Are you a lad aged 11 - 16 from Wigan?
Do you like gaming and hanging out? Do you enjoy telling stories? Great tunes? Performing? Are you up for an adventure?
Then this project is for YOU! Come and help us tell the story of teenage lads in Wigan today.
Projekt WMD is an exciting, new, creative project that invites teenage lads (you) to get together with some of Wigan’s most exciting creators, including luma:ratio in a fun, relaxed environment, to create the story of what it’s like to be a teenage lad in Wigan today, using dynamic audio-visual technology, cutting-edge lighting design, storytelling skills and a professional actor, who will bring your stories to life in a professional theatre at the end of the project. You and your friends & family will be invited to the live performances as VIP audience members.
Over the course of three workshops, you will be part of a group of 10-20 teenage lads who will help us create a new piece of live, professional performance influenced by your ideas, experiences, stories and music choices. As well as this, you will also be invited to observe professional auditions and rehearsals, give your feedback on the auditions to help us decide which actor to work with, and be a VIP guest at the live performances, alongside your friends and family.
When? Projekt WMD runs from March to May 2026. The full dates are below.
Where? Group A workshops will take place in central Wigan, Group B workshops will take place in Platt Bridge. The two groups will join together for a third workshop in a venue to be confirmed.
Who is it for? Boys aged 11 - 16 from Wigan. Group A workshops are for boys who live at any Wigan address. Group B workshops are for boys who live at a Platt Bridge address. You do not need to have any experience of live performance to take part. You just need to be interested and up for getting involved and having fun!
Who is running it? All our workshops will be run by professional creatives who are highly experienced at working with young people. Our workshop leaders for this programme are Matt, Amy, Jonnie and Carlos.
How much does it cost? This project is fully funded by Forging the Future, so it is FREE to take part. We also have travel bursaries to support anyone who needs financial support to get to the workshops.

Joy Unspeakable - Youth & Community Engagement
Our debut touring production Joy Unspeakable (August 2024) was accompanied by a series of post-show conversations with mental health experts and company members, creative self-care workshops and professional CPD opportunities. We also delivered bespoke pre- and post-show workshops, with young people aged 16-18 using the education pack below, to support their experience of watching the show safely.
Below is a link to our young peoples education pack. It includes some short interviews with the creative team, some signposting information around the subject matter and suggested activities to do with young people who have seen the show, to support them to unpack learning.
